SC Johnson Achieves Key Plastic Targets and Distributes Prevention Tool for Insect-Borne Disease, as Noted in Annual Report
The company’s latest ‘Better World Accountability Report’ spotlights initiatives that reduce plastic waste, lessen the burden of insect-borne disease, lower carbon impact and strengthen families and communities.
RACINE, Wis., April 9, 2025 – Today, SC Johnson, the maker of household brands such as Windex®, Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day® and Scrubbing Bubbles®, published its 2024 Better World Accountability Report, highlighting the company's ongoing commitment to tackling critical global issues such as plastic pollution and insect-borne diseases.

Key 2024 highlights include:
- Efforts to End Plastic Waste and Operate Sustainably:
- Achieved two key plastic targets – reducing virgin plastic and incorporating recycled materials into packaging – a year ahead of the 2025 commitment in the 2024 Global Commitment Progress Report.
- Exceeded our goal to reduce company-wide absolute emissions by 70% since 2000 and are continuing to work to increase our global energy use from renewable sources for all operations to 48%.
- Continued to raise awareness about plastic pollution through The Blue Paradox exhibit at the Griffin Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago, speaking up for stronger plastics regulation and supporting a strong, reasonable Global Plastics Treaty.
- Partnerships to Fight Insect-Borne Disease:
- Reached more than 110 million people since 2013 via public health initiatives, education tools and distributing life-saving repellents in the fight against insect-borne disease.
- Served more than 5 million people across 82 SC Johnson community health clinics globally, including 78 in Rwanda, two in Tanzania, and one each in Indonesia and South Sudan, reducing time to access critical healthcare in the area.
- Continued to invest in developing, testing and producing spatial repellents, SC Johnson Guardian™ and SC Johnson Mosquito Shield™, as low-cost prevention tools for insect-borne diseases.
- Investments to Support Communities:
- Invested more than $300 million over the last decade in philanthropy to help families, communities and the planet.
- Helped over 4.7 million people through charitable contributions, including donating more than 1.4 million units of product like repellents to help communities facing outbreaks of insect-borne disease and cleaners to help areas recovering from natural disasters.
- Supported 646 organizations globally in 2024, including Habitat for Humanity, Teach for the Philippines and In2ScienceUK.
